I wasn’t attracted that much to the debasement and abuse - I wasn’t attracted by the sexual element at all, to be fair. And for years it was one of my favourite movies. It caused and still causes shockwaves among audiences, in 2019 for different reasons than in the early 70s, when it was widely regarded as an erotic masterpiece. It is a film that unarguably fits into the category of “classic”.
